This Privacy Policy explains how Knockout Games ("Knockout Games", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects information when you play Pawtopia (the "Game") on a virtual reality headset. By playing the Game, you acknowledge the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Knockout Games is the publisher of Pawtopia and is responsible for the personal information processed through the Game. You can reach us at support@knockoutgames.xyz.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect as little information as possible. Pawtopia does not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or payment details.
Information provided by the VR platform
When you download and play the Game through a VR platform store (for example, the Meta Horizon Store, SteamVR or PICO Store), the platform may share limited information with us so the Game can work, such as:
- a platform user ID and display name (only if the Game uses platform features such as achievements or entitlement checks);
- confirmation that you own a valid copy of the Game (entitlement check).
Your use of the platform itself is governed by that platform's own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
- Device & technical data: headset model, operating system version, Game version, language, and general performance data (such as frame rate).
- Gameplay data: progress, settings, session length and in-game events, used to save your game and to improve it.
- Crash & diagnostic data: crash logs and error reports to help us find and fix bugs.
3. VR sensor & movement data
To let you move and play in virtual reality, the Game uses data from your headset's sensors, such as head and controller position, hand-tracking, and play-area boundaries.
- This data is processed in real time on your device to render the Game and respond to your movements.
- We do not store, upload or sell raw movement, hand-tracking, eye-tracking, room-scan, camera or microphone data.
- We do not use sensor data to identify you.
If a future version of the Game introduces any feature that needs to transmit such data (for example, voice chat), we will update this policy and ask for your permission where required.
4. How we use information
- To provide, operate and save your progress in the Game;
- To verify that you own a legitimate copy of the Game;
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs and improve performance and comfort;
- To understand, in aggregate, how players use the Game so we can improve it;
- To respond to support requests you send us;
- To comply with legal obligations and protect the security of the Game.
We do not use your information to show you targeted advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK players)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal information on these bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Game you obtained), legitimate interests (to keep the Game secure, fix bugs and improve it), consent (where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time), and legal obligation.
6. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Game:
- Service providers who help us operate the Game, such as game-engine analytics or crash-reporting services (for example, Unity Analytics or similar), bound by contracts to protect your data;
- VR platform providers, as needed for entitlement checks, achievements and distribution;
- Legal & safety reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our players or others;
- Business transfers, if Knockout Games is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with this policy continuing to apply.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Crash and diagnostic data is generally kept for no longer than 24 months. Gameplay saves stored on your device remain there until you delete the Game or its data.
8. Children's privacy
Pawtopia is designed to be family-friendly, but VR headset manufacturers set their own minimum age requirements, and children should use VR only as permitted by the headset maker and with parental supervision.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in their country) without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@knockoutgames.xyz and we will delete it.
9. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To make a request, email support@knockoutgames.xyz. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You can also manage some data through your VR platform's privacy settings, or remove local data by uninstalling the Game.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit where data is sent to our service providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the Game or on this website.
